Service Transport Company began operations in 1965 as intrastate Texas carrier of petroleum, petroleum products, (including petrochemicals) and waste liquids. In 1980, the Environmental Protection Agency permitted STC as a waste transporter. Later, in 1986, the Interstate Commerce Commission permitted STC as a forty-eight state, class of shipper, contract carrier. In 1988, the contract authority was expanded to a forty-eight state, non-radial common carrier certificate. In the late 1990’s STC was granted inter and intra provincial authority from both the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec in Canada. In 2003, STC became “Customs Self Assessment” approved by the Canada Border Services Agency and a customs bonded carrier into all of Canada. This combination of authority and proven expertise has provided our customers with uniquely tailored transportation services whenever, whatever, and wherever required.

Service Transport Company’s customers are served from terminals in Houston, Corpus Christi, Freeport and Beaumont, Texas as well as St. Gabriel and St. Rose Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama and Charlotte, North Carolina. The Houston, Texas terminal is a twenty-four hour operation and utilize the latest communication equipment. Service currently operates over three hundred (300) tractors and four hundred twenty five (425) trailers. Most of the trailers are stainless steel, insulated, single compartment trailers. However, the fleet also consists of pressure equipment including LPG trailers, acid barrels, three and four compartment trailers and a host of other combinations that will suit most chemical customers. The tractors are generally less than three years old and are specially constructed for STC using the latest technology to achieve a structurally strong, yet light, unit with power trains that are strong, durable and fuel efficient.

Our Fleet & Equipment

Service Transport Company maintains a modern and fuel efficient fleet. Our primary objective is to increase safety and compliance, reduce operating costs and improve customer service.

From a corporate standpoint, one of the most important facets of our fleet is the technological capabilities. The trucks are equipped with satellite systems from Peoplenet that interface with the engine. Sensors monitor engine problems, fuel mileage, and performance, and report the results back to enterprise transportation software from TMW® Systems and TMWSuite.

We expect more out of our trucks than ever before. With the systems we have in place we are on top of what’s going on with our tractors in real time from a maintenance and performance standpoint with the goal of reducing our overall costs.

From a driver-safety point of view, managers follow up on reports regarding the drivers’ performance. We are able to pull data for any unit and driver. This allows us to manage our fleet more effectively and be proactive in identifying potential problems and to better target driver training. In addition, the review process also allows us to identify and reward our outstanding drivers.

What Drives our Safety Performance? Service Transport Company offers one of the safest fleets in the industry. Our primary objective is to increase safety and compliance for our drivers. STC does this by equipping our tractors with the following technology:

  • Collision Avoidance

  • Stability Control

  • Speed Limiters

  • Critical Event Recorders

  • Electronic Logging

  • Disc Brakes

  • Automatic Transmission

  • Lane Departure

  • Dash Cams

Service Transport Company believes that our employees and contractors are our most valuable assets, and that the success of the company is determined by the quality of these aforementioned individuals. Because of these beliefs, STC is committed to hiring the best and most qualified available drivers.
